A group of NE Metro 916 students launched boats they built in partnership with Urban Boat Builders into White Bear Lake Thursday, May 24. One was a skin on frame canoe based on an Inuit design and the other was a Mississippi River Skiff. Twenty students from several different district programs worked in shifts to complete the wooden boats, gaining confidence in the process along with practical skills, including safety and how to properly use tools.
