Sparked by Nathan Graslewicz, Mahtomedi extended its lacrosse season for one more game with a 15-10 win over Centennial in the state tournament consolation bracket on Thursday.
Graslewicz led with six goals, which tied the state tournament single-game record, at Minnetonka High School. The senior attacker has 34 goals, third-high on the team.
The Zephyrs (12-6), who lost in the first round to St. Thomas Academy 11-8, will take on Wayzata in the fifth-place game on Saturday, 11 a.m., at Minnetonka.
Centennial finished 15-3. The Cougars had won 15 in a row before losing to Benilde-St. Margaret’s 8-4 and Mahtomedi.
Graslewicz, who connected on six of nine shots, scored in each quarter, and his last one, nine seconds into the last quarter, gave Mahtomedi a 13-5 lead.
Levi Lemke notched two goals and three assists. Colin Hagstrom had two goals and Ryan Pilla, Ethan Russell, Tanner Whitmore, Samuel Donna and Neal Dardis one each.
Hagstrom gave the Zephyrs great ball possession, winning 21 of 23 face-offs. Goalie Xander Williams stopped seven of 17 shots.
Garett Hoch scored four goals for Centennial. Rawley Scherman and Alexander Brouillet had two goals each with Scherman making three assists and Bouillet one. Jordan Rodriguez and Reese Peck Cowles had the other goals. Andreas Bramscher, goalie, faced 32 shots, stopping 17.
