Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation celebrates giving

A check for $4,000 was presented to Trisha Cummins Kauffman, executive director of Solid Ground in White Bear Lake, for development of a mentoring program for middle and high school youth. Presenting the check is Beverley Driscoll, a member of the grant committee.

The Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation presented this year's grants to 23 recipients at a celebratory event Dec. 3 at the White Bear Country Inn. Thanks to the generosity of 62 individuals, the foundation was able to give $41,150 in grants through its Community Partners Fund. That's a 28 percent increase from last year, said Carol McFarlane, vice chair.

The foundation's goal, Chairman Bill Foussard reminded those in attendance, is to raise $5 million by the year 2020.

Next year's 20-member leaders of tomorrow class were also introduced. The program was developed by the foundation in partnership with the White Bear Rotary Club and White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce. Of the $1.38 million contributed to the foundation, a portion, or $30,000, goes to the leadership program.
