Dellwood pianist LaWayne Leno has authored a biography about 19th century pianist Adele aus der Ohe. The woman was one of Franz Liszt's youngest, and eventually one of his most celebrated, students. The 304-page self-published book retails for $18 and is available online and at Lake Country Booksellers.
As a youth, Leno studied piano with two of aus der Ohe’s former students. He now teaches and performs with pianist Reid Smith. He also has served as a church organist, choir accompanist, duo partner with Alex Romano and has performed at the Piano Texas International Festival.
Mahtomedi resident Mark Berriman has published a poetry collection, titled “Brutally Frank.” It’s his second collection. Berriman also is an artist and director of operations for the Stillwater Gazette.
A book release party, with a reading and music from Half a Head will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 15 at Lift Bridge Brewery, 1900 Tower Drive, Stillwater. Berriman will also hold a book signing at 6:30 p.m. June 28 at the Valley Bookseller in Stillwater.

Vadnais Heights author Angie Reinbold Ibarra will hold a book signing at 2 p.m. Last year Ibarra published “Tales of a Community That Was,” a short history of Germans from Russia who settled in Krassna, North Dakota.
On Sunday, July 1, Julie Kramer and fellow local author Catherine Carey (“White Bear: a History”) will sign books from 1 to 3 p.m. at the White Bear Country Inn.
