The lease has been extended one year for White Bear Lake’s independent bookseller. Co-owner Susie Fruncillo said the rent is higher, at market rate, but landlord Tyler Conrad of GoodThings has agreed to pick up some of their expenses to offset the increase. “That buys us more time to look for an affordable space downtown,” she said. One possibility is the Bear Patch quilt store on Fourth and Banning Avenue, which is closing end of year. Fruncillo said they have been in contact with the building owner, John Rog of Grant, but the space is too large, so she is hoping he will subdivide. “Our hearts have been warmed by the outpouring of support from the community,” the Lake Country owners wrote in their newsletter. “We feel the love and it will, no doubt, propel us forward with optimism in our search.” The book store, located at 4766 Washington Square, has been in White Bear Lake since 1980.
