Singer Lee Engele was backed by the Moonlight Serenaders during the annual White Bear Lake Area Historical Society sponsored “Pops on the Porch” event outside the Fillebrown House. “Summertime” was one of the featured songs during the early evening, late summer performance. It was composed by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess and has continued through the decades to be a classic favorite, most recently recorded by Lana Del Rey in 2020.

Upcoming White Bear Lake Area Historical Society community events include the Birchwood Centennial Celebration and White Bear Township Days.
