Two struggling town-team ball clubs, White Bear Township and Stillwater, duked it out in a close game on Tuesday, June 27, with Stillwater prevailing 7-6 at White Bear Township Fields.

Calvin Brinda pitched the distance for the Loggers, earning the win, and Arthur Seeb delivered the key hit, a three-run homer. Andy Kraminger was the WBT starter and took the loss. Kevin Hildreth and Kyle Hastings also pitched.

White Bear Township has a 4-13 record, highlighted by back-to-back wins on June 20-21 over two good teams, Stockman’s Irish 5-3 and Highland Park 7-6. Bill Sand, a longtime team member and former Hamline captain, is the player-manager.

Stillwater, which canceled its season last summer, was revived this year with an all-new roster of 14 players, managed by Dave Andrews, who had been playing in an over-35 league with a St. Paul team. The win over WBT was the Loggers’ first of the season after six losses.
