Ian Bahn threw 12 scoreless innings in two games in the sectional.

Mounds View capped a dominant run through the Section 5AAAA tournament with a 5-0 conquest of Osseo, led by pitcher Ian Bahn, in the finals on Wednesday evening at CHS Field in St. Paul.

In a section with no ranked teams, the Mustangs (18-6) beat Park Center 9-0, Centennial 7-1, and Champlin Park 9-0 before posting their third shutout against Osseo.

Bahn shut down the Orioles on three hits and two walks, striking out 11, backed by errorless defense, and hit a sacrifice fly. He started the first inning with a four-pitch walk, but struck out the next three batters, and was staked to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the inning by John Solfest’s two-run single. also hit a sacrifice fly.

Bahn (5-3 overall) had two of the Mustangs’ four playoff wins with 12 scoreless innings, while going 3-for-9 at the plate with five RBIs.

Brett Bateman went 3-for-4 with a double and scored one run, finishing 9-for-15 in the playoffs. Solfest was 2-for-3. Jonah Sparks had an RBI double and Matt Herold had an RBI single.

Jake Contreros, first of three pitchers for Osseo (14-11), took the loss.

Mounds View earned its ninth state trip, and second in a row. The state Class 4A tournament will begin June 14 at CHS Field.
