The Centennial Cougars lost to No. 5 ranked Lakeville North 65-61 at home on Tuesday evening.

The Cougars (1-1) got 22 points apiece from senior center Jenna Guyer and junior guard Jodi Anderson. Hannah Herzig added 10 points.

Lauren Jansen tallied 25 points and Sarah Kuma 21 for Lakeville North, which was opening its season.

We had a tough time containing Jensen and Kuma in the second half,” said Cougar coach Jamie Sobolik.

The Cougars led 30-27 at halftime with Anderson scoring 14.

North’s all-stater, Jansen, scored 17 of her points in the second half.

The Cougars trailed 54-48 before rallying to tie the score at 59 with baskets by Guyer, Grace Johnson, Anderson and Hannah Herzig.

Kuma answered with a 3-pointer for North. The Cougars were within 63-61 and had the ball but Kuma stole it with 12 seconds left.
