WYOMING — A 911 caller reporting an active shooter inside a Wyoming home falsified her report, according to the Wyoming Police Department.
At 10:41 a.m. Monday, June 3, a woman inside a home in the 26700 block of Goldman Blvd. told a 911 operator that her father had been shot and killed by another man. According to Police Chief Paul Hoppe when officers arrived on scene, the woman ran out of the house with an infant child in-hand, reiterating that her 57-year-old father had been shot and killed inside the home, and claimed the suspect and his 74-year-old mother were still inside the home.
The neighborhood was evacuated as the Chisago County SWAT team made entry into the home, which they deemed to be empty after finding no one else inside.
“The house was empty; the shooting did not occur inside the residence. There were no victims and no other people found inside the home,” Hoppe said in a statement. Police cleared the area around 12:30 p.m. and allowed neighboring residents to return to their homes shortly after.
Hoppe said that the case remains under investigation, and the Wyoming Police Department is exploring charges for falsifying statements made to police.
