The American Legion Post 225, Auxiliary, and Sons of the America Legion are seeking high school juniors for Minnesota Boys State and Minnesota Girls State. Both programs will be held June 9-15, with Boys State at St. John's University in Collegeville and Girls State at Bethel University in St. Paul. Participants will learn about local and state government in a practical experiential training program.

Students interested in applying should exhibit the qualities of leadership, good character, scholarship, citizenship and interest in an Americanism program. The application consists of a 1-2 page essay highlighting qualifications and interest, as well as a personal interview. Phone numbers and email address should be included on the application. Applications are due Feb. 28.

Forest Lake Area High School students should contact Mr. VanHefty or Ms. Erickson; North Lakes Academy students, Mr. Stewart; Lakes International Language Academy students, Ms. Kainz, and homeschool students Ron Miller at 651-464-5549.
