White Bear Lake girls cross country placed second at the Rum River Invitational on Thursday at Anoka High School. St. Michael-Albertville (No. 2 ranked in the state) dominated with five of the top seven runners. The Knights had 19 points, the Bears 73, and Minnetonka 114 for top three among 13 teams. Natalie Andres led the Bears in eighth place (19:59). Maddie Verkerke was 10th (20:04), Melanie Pankow 17th (20:21), Olivia Schwintek 20th (20:37) and Maggie Blanding 21st (20:42).
