White Bear Lake’s two-game win streak was snapped by East Ridge 43-28 in a freewheeling game Friday evening in Woodbury.
A highlight for the Bears (2-1) was Brice Peters returning a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter that pulled them within 36-21.
Cooper Anderson passed to Kevin Boeing for a 25-yard score and to Dominic Smith for a 31-yard score. Zach Griebel had the final TD on a one-yard dive. Nicholas Blanding kicked four extra points.
East Ridge (2-1) jumped ahead 15-0 on two scoring passes in the first quarter with Zach Zebrowski hitting Cameron Ashford from from 28 yards and Alex Larson from six years.
Kendall Moore got the Raptors’ next three touchdowns on runs of 11, 20 and 10 yards. Zebrowski closed their scoring with a two-yard run. The Raptors made all their conversions including a two-pointer.
East Ridge could not be stopped in the air or on the ground as they out-gained the Bears 583 yards to 285. The Raptors rushed for 351 yards and hit 17 of 23 passes for 232 more. Zebrowski carried 27 times for 128 yards. Emmanuel Okeleye had 17 totes for 138 yards. Big-play receiver Ashford gained 111 yards on three catches.
Anderson completed 10 of 18 for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Boeing caught four for 83 yards and Smith four for 78 yards. The Bears were limited to 95 net yards on 28 rushes. Griebel had 50 on 12 carries.
The Bears will play at Stillwater (1-2) next Friday.
