I find this disturbing that our mayor is having such personal financial problems over many years. Mayor Auger stating that this has not affected his decision making during a time of such duress is hardly believable. Not paying your taxes is a crime and NOT in the best interest of the community.

Although I agree Mr. Auger's issue could have been resolved sooner, please remember that Mr. Auger has been re-elected Mayor a number of times over the last 12 years. The re-election was done by the citizens of WBL and were based on Mr. Auger's good work and good leadership as Mayor of WBL. Anit-Auger people using this event to take shots at the Mayor is what I find irresponsible. Focus on his record as Mayor of one of the best run cities in MN. But, then you couldn't take shots at him if you did that!

Editor's note: several of the comments have come from the same IP addresses. The comments from 'Kim', 'Pat' and 'Greg' all came from one address. The comments from 'Paul' and 'Henry' were from the same source. The comments from 'Gene' and 'Richard' also are from the same address.

I agree with Henry. Once you get a problem you solve it now not when the pressure is on. Responsible citizens would have sold or mortgaged their assets immediately to pay their obligations. Belly up to the bar and pay your bills, stop with the excuses. If your that incompetent you not only shouldn't be Mayor, you shouldn't be running your own business.

What pathetic excuses. Let's recap - that Mayor says he will sell off some properties and pay his taxes. Why didn't he do this years ago?He got a tax bill, which he ignored. He got lots of letters requesting he pay his taxes, whihc he ignored. Liens were put on his property, which he ignored. Finally the taxman shuts down his business, the story hits the paper, and he no longer ignores the problem. He says he will sell some assets to settle his tax debt - but why didn't he do this years ago?

The hypocricy! The Mayor regularly derides the sailing community for being "elitist". At least we pay out taxes. The Mayor regularly claims he is working in the best interests of the taxpayers, but it is now revealed that he is sponging off those who do pay their taxes. For shame!

Hey Paul, If you are having such financial troubles during these tough economic times! Why don’t you try down sizing, by selling your beautiful big house with the large in-ground swimming pool on Orchard Lane and move into your parent's home. Just think you'll be close to work where you can walk and you can also sell your cars for even more money.

Impeach the mayor and his lap dog Sather, nice try blaming it on " the times" you will not wiggle your way out of this one. holy cow, You good old boys are making financial decisions for the city and you can't even handle a car shop, step down

The City Manager, Sather not aware when the Auger's garage is closed by taxing authorities for several days? I doubt it. Just another cover-up in the good old boys closet in White Bear Lake. Auger helps keep Sather in power and vice (I stress the Vice) versa.

Mayor Auger's attempt to place the blame on 'these tough economic times' is pathetic. His problems started with his own bone headed mistakes during the Clinton years.

Liens go back to 1998? Nothing to do with the current tough economic times, everyone was flourishing in the 90's. Looks like poor judgement and being irresponsible. Time to resign and devote your time to getting your family out of debt and becoming a productive member of society. Typical of politicos with big egos.

Once you get some money the community asks that you finish painting your garage. It has been an eye sore for sometime.
