LINO LAKES - Framed on the wall of Troy Martenson's basement music studio are band photos from his wild days - gnarly long hair, nose piercings and brooding facial expressions.
"I learned a lot about survival," the 39-year-old said about his early 20s. "Being 2,000 miles from home with $5 in your pocket. Going through the mountains, close calls, you name it. I hope my kids never see what I did at 21."
