The 13th annual Officer Shawn Silvera Rotary Run was held Saturday, Aug. 18, in Lino Lakes. On Sept. 6, 2005, Lino Lakes Police Officer Shawn Silvera was killed in the line of duty while assisting in a high-speed chase on I-35W. Officer Silvera was struck by the suspect’s car after deploying stop-sticks. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Shawn made the ultimate sacrifice while serving to protect the citizens of the state of Minnesota.

The event, which had around 170 participants, included a certified, chip-timed 5K run with a Public Safety Challenge competition, Daisy Dash (family 2K) and the YMCA Splash and Dash (swim and run) for kids.
