Local 4-H represented at National Shooting Sports Invitational

Thirty-five Minnesota 4-H youth and 12 adults represented Minnesota at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational in Grand Island, Neb. June 24-28. These youth were selected to represent Minnesota through an application process following their participation in the 2012 Minnesota 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Invitational. The 35 youth represented 15 counties in Minnesota.

National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational youth participants from Kanabec County were Colter Porter, Alec Barnick and Austin Carda. Results were as follows: Colter placed eighth individually in Air Pistol (team placed fifth), Alec placed 12th individually in Hunting Skills (team placed seventh) and Austin placed 15th in .22 Pistol (team placed fifth). Kanabec County also sent three instructors to coach the National team. John and Claudia Fridstrom coached members of the Shotgun team (17th place) and Dan Porter was the coach of the Air Rifle team (10th place).
