Mora school officials continue to seek public input as they plan construction of new school facilities.

Last week, 164 people attended a communitywide meeting where school district officials outlined three options ranging from closing Fairview Elementary to closing both Fairview and Mora High School and constructing new facilities on the 120-acre Trailview Elementary School site at the north edge of Mora.

I had no idea that parts of our buildings are so decrepit and unhealthy. On the surface the outdoor facilities are horrid.

Of course the main concern is education. But the football field, stands, lighting and track are an embarrassment. Mora is better than that! Well, at one time we were anyway.

I'm in favor of the building project. It makes no sense to put lipstick on a pig.

Hats off to the school board for trying to get public input. Keep it going! The community has to help determine what it needs, what it wants for the future generations. Sometime ago, our parents and grandparents shose to build something for the next generations. Maybe it is our turn.
