Nineteen University of Minnesota Extension Kanabec County Master Gardeners were recognized for their accomplishments in 2012 at an Awards and Recognition Night at the Kanabec County Courthouse in Mora on Feb. 28. They volunteered a total of 1,020 hours and participated in 375 hours of education during the year.

“The Mora Community Garden was the project that involved the most time and effort by the Master Gardeners this past year,” said Master Gardener Volunteer Chairperson Barb Orstad. The Master Gardeners managed the garden where 16 community gardeners used 38 plots to grow vegetables and fruit for their own use.
